Edmonton Transit System’s electronic lost and found system
Enterprise lost and found software in the cloud
Challenge
Edmonton Transit needed to speed up the recovery of lost items and get rid of the paper trail. Their old process was:
- Driver or ETS security officer collects all the items found at the end of the day, then gives them to the dispatcher at the garage. There are six garages, plus DATS.
- Then the dispatcher needs to do the paperwork and get the items shipped to Churchill Square.
- The items are then, hopefully, entered into the lost and found system by the next afternoon.
- So it could be up to a day or a day and a half before you could even see if they had your item.
Solution
HF architected, designed and developed a website where the dispatcher at each location can enter the lost items into the online system that night. This allows the patrons to see if their item was found that night and be ready for the item to be picked up at Churchill the next day. This allows the recovery of items to be speedup by about a day.
Results
The city of Edmonton got a cost effective piece of software that saves them time and money and let’s the patrons of Edmonton transit recover their lost valuables faster.
